It is said that over 10,000 people were waiting in the park. Olavo Bilac, a famous poet, delivered an inaugural speech. He praised Garibaldi as a soldier for peace. The sculptor, Emilio Gallori, did not attend. However, he received a telegram with news of the successful event.
