The seeds of MSUAC were sown in the mid-20th century with the introduction of arts-focused classes at other institutions. A stage production class emerged at the Mongolian State University in 1957. Following this, the State Pedagogical Institute added classes in theatre and cinema performance in 1959, voice training in 1967, and folk music instruction in 1989. These programs laid the groundwork for what would eventually blossom into the MSUAC. Today, the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture is a vibrant hub of artistic expression. It encompasses a diverse range of schools, including Fine Arts, Broadcasting and Media, Culture and Civilization, Cultural Education, Stage and Screen Arts, and Music Arts. Its influence extends beyond the capital, with the Music and Dance College in Zavhkan province and the Culture and Arts Research Institute in Ulaanbaatar also under its wing. Over 330 professors guide nearly 3700 students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The university’s graduates contribute to every facet of Mongolia’s cultural landscape.
