The name Mo Luong means a big course of the stream. In the Thai language, it describes the stream that originates inside the cave. The water runs out to the field. People dug a pond to retain water. This pond is named Mo Luong Pond. Previously it was named Bo Luong Cave.
As we venture into Mo Lung Wat Cave, know that it stretches over 500 meters. It contains four caverns. The main one can hold up to 500 people. The rest of the cave requires some skills and fitness. You’ll need to go through a tunnel to experience a soft adventure.
The first cave is quite large. It is 60 meters long and 16 meters wide. Its ceiling is 20 meters high. This cave was once used as a military arsenal during the Vietnam-America war. The space feels like a large living room. Stalactites adorn the ceiling and walls. They resemble decorative ceiling lights and colorful paintings.
The second cave sits 10 meters higher than the first. Stepping inside, you’ll feel like you have entered a wonderland of rocks. Stalactites shaped like fairies and Buddha statues line the cave. The walls have streaks of white, yellow, blue, and gray. They resemble sparkling clouds.
The third cave is cooler. It has an area of about 400 square meters. Stalactites hang down like huge teeth.
The fourth cave is very wide. It is 15 meters long, 12 meters wide, and 25 meters high. Many stalactites and stone pillars feature unique shapes. At the end of this cave, an underground stream flows. It flows into Mo Luong Lake.
Locals tell a legend about a snake turned into a dragon. The dragon brought rain to the village. Villagers worship the snake inside Mo Lung Wat Cave to show their gratitude.
