What connects the districts of Songshan and Neihu? Look no further than the impressive Minquan Bridge. This bridge, a vital artery in Taipei’s transport network, has a fascinating story to tell. The Minquan Bridge was inaugurated in 1982. For over four decades, it has faithfully served the residents of Taipei. It stretches an impressive 1350 meters across the Keelung River. The Minquan Bridge is not just a means of getting from A to B. It’s a landmark that has witnessed the city’s growth and evolution. But time takes its toll on even the sturdiest structures. After years of traffic, drivers began to report unsettling vibrations while crossing the Minquan Bridge. Concerned about safety, the New Constructions Office (NCO) launched an investigation. They made a decision to overhaul the entire bridge. This massive reconstruction project began in November 2021. The project is a testament to the city’s commitment to safety and progress. It is expected to be completed by June 2025. The Minquan Bridge stands as a symbol of Taipei’s resilience and ambition.
