“Eternal perspective and purpose.” That’s what defines Milliken Wesleyan Methodist Church. It is more than a social club. It is a group with a heavenly focus.

Milliken Wesleyan Methodist Church began with a small group. They attended Amroth Wesleyan Church in Toronto. They committed to starting a new church. It would be in the northeast section of town.

On September 7 1980, the first service was held. Rev. Alan Summers led the service at Silver Springs Public School. Twenty-five people attended. That was the humble beginning of Milliken Wesleyan Methodist Church.

Over the years, God brought people from many nations. They came to this place of worship. Since those early days, many changes have occurred. There were two moves. The church saw five pastors. It experienced one merger. There was also lots of neighbourhood change. Despite these changes, Milliken Wesleyan Methodist Church continued to thrive.

By 2025, Milliken Wesleyan Methodist Church celebrated its 40th anniversary. It marked four decades in communion with Christ. The church’s name itself holds significance.

“Milliken” signifies the church’s calling. It is to bless and serve the people. These people call the Milliken area home. This area includes Southern Markham and Northern Scarborough.

“Wesleyan” reflects the church’s pursuit. Members seek to live a holy life. They want to emulate Jesus. This life has the power to change the world for good.

“Methodist” indicates collaboration. The church works with multiple denominations worldwide. Methodists enthusiastically bless others. They share the hope of the Gospel.

“Church” represents more than a civic group. It is a group with an eternal perspective. The Kingdom of Jesus Christ promises blessings forever. It also promises justice and peace to all.

Milliken Wesleyan Methodist Church is active in its community. There is always a lot going on. The church posts events in its calendar. This includes classes and special events.

The Bible is central to Milliken’s worship. Every Sunday includes several readings. There is also a sermon. Scripture soaks every service.

Milliken Wesleyan Methodist Church offers something for everyone. It has ministries for every age group. In June 1992, Toronto Chinese Methodist Church planted a daughter church here. They used the facilities of Milliken Wesleyan Methodist Church. Later in August 1998, they purchased land. It was for the construction of a new building. With God’s help, the new building finished in the summer of 2001. Thus marked the reunion of the Logan and Milliken church.
