Have you noticed how the Mennica Legacy Tower seems to change as you walk around it? This dynamic design is no accident. The architects, Goettsch Partners, wanted to create a building that was iconic, not imposing. The Mennica Legacy Tower stands in the bustling Wola district, completed in 2020. It replaced the former headquarters of the Mint of Poland at 18 Prosta Street. The tower actually consists of two buildings. The taller, mBank Tower, reaches 140 meters with 32 stories. Its neighbor, a smaller office building, rises 43 meters with 9 stories. The towers are connected by a plaza, a green space offering a break from the city’s energy. The architects used glass and steel to echo Warsaw’s historical architecture while embracing a modern aesthetic. Notice the rounded corners of the mBank Tower. They soften the building’s profile and contribute to its ever-shifting appearance. Those corners, on the northeast and southwest facades, are designed to break up the building’s mass. This allows the Mennica Legacy Tower to become a recognizable landmark within Warsaw’s skyline. The taller tower tapers towards the top, culminating in an illuminated rooftop opening. This distinctive feature makes the tower visible at night, a beacon in the cityscape. The Mennica Legacy Tower isn’t just beautiful. It’s also functional and sustainable. It meets the requirements of the BREEAM environmental certificate. This reflects a commitment to environmentally conscious design. Inside, mBank has its headquarters. The smaller building houses WeWork. Look for the subtle details, like the saw-toothed glass facade that plays with light and reflections. This dynamic structure stands as a testament to modern design and serves as a symbol of Warsaw’s ongoing revitalization.
