Is there a more peaceful place in all of Stockholm than Margaretaparken? Right now, you might be thinking it’s just a lovely park. But trust me, Margaretaparken holds more stories than trees.

Designed by architect Per Olof Hallman, Margaretaparken was part of his grand vision for Enskede Trädgårdsstad in 1907. Today, we know it as Gamla Enskede, but the park remains a testament to his love for nature. Nestled between bustling streets, this three-hectare oasis invites you to stroll along winding paths and discover hidden gems. Look for the memorial stone erected in 1919. It commemorates the very first development of Enskede Samhälle back in 1909. But Margaretaparken is more than just a pretty face.

Since 1983, it transforms into an open-air theater with the Enskedespelet captivating audiences. The park also hosts performances by Stockholm’s Parkteater during the summer months. As you soak in the tranquility, imagine the laughter, music, and applause that have filled this park. And why is it called Margaretaparken? The park is named after the beloved English Duchess Margaret of Connaught, who captured the heart of Sweden’s future King Gustaf VI Adolf in 1905. Though her life was tragically cut short in 1920, her memory lives on in this vibrant park. As you leave Margaretaparken, take a piece of its serenity with you.
