“In 1915, a seed of faith was planted.” That’s how the story of Marbury Baptist Church begins. It started with Rev. James M. Thomas and ten devoted Baptist families. They felt a strong calling to establish a Baptist church in the Marbury area.

Marbury Baptist Church has a rich history. Over the years, 21 pastors have served the church. Hundreds of individuals have worked tirelessly for their faith. These Christians overcame many challenges to create a place of worship. They wanted a place to honor God.

Marbury Baptist Church played a key role in establishing other Baptist churches. Lexington Park, First Baptist of LaPlata, Welcome, and White Plains were among them. The church also helped others in need. They aided churches and people affected by floods and hurricanes. These places were in Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, and West Virginia. They offered help through Christmas in April. They supported local agencies too.

The church actively participates in mission work. The mission is to proclaim Christ. They seek the lost and baptize the redeemed. They disciple the redeemed. They minister to the congregation and community. They do this by sharing Christ’s love. The vision of Marbury Baptist Church is rooted in Jesus’ words. “Go ye therefore and teach all nations.” This is from Matthew 28:19-20.

Today, Marbury Baptist Church continues its work. It provides worship services in person and online. You can even watch live streams on Facebook. The church uses modern tools to spread its message. They embrace online giving for tithes and donations.
