Here stands Mar Gregorios Syrian Church a testament to faith and community. Mar Gregorios Syrian Church started in 1988. Immigrants from Kerala India founded it. They settled here in Tampa Florida. In the early 1990s the church acquired property on 58th Street. It was near the University of South Florida. A house became a temporary worship space.
Let’s step back for a moment. Imagine these families arriving in Tampa. They brought their traditions. They longed for a place to worship together. They built Mar Gregorios Syrian Church. It became a spiritual home.
On November 4 2001 a milestone was reached. The foundation stone was laid. It was for a permanent church building. This marked a new chapter for the parish.
Mar Gregorios Syrian Church has a special feature. It is one of few Malankara churches in the US with a kurishumthotti. This is a roadside mini chapel. It is common in Kerala churches.
Imagine the vibrant feast days here. There are fireworks and colorful processions. They mirror celebrations back in Kerala. It is a beautiful blend of cultures. About 25 families belong to this parish.

Worship services are held every Sunday. Morning prayers start at 8:45 am. They last until 9:45 am. Holy Qurbono follows from 9:45 am to 11:30 am. Services are in Malayalam. Keep in mind feast days might change the schedule. Sometimes evening prayers happen on Saturdays.

Coming from Orlando take I-4 W for 54 miles. Take Exit 7 to I-75 N to Naples/Ocala. Drive 3 miles and take Exit 54 SR-582 Fowler Ave. Head towards Temple Terrace. Drive west on Fowler Ave for 2 miles. Turn right onto N 58th St. Drive 600 feet. The church will be on the right.
