Another blow came during World War II when the palace was used as a military depot by the Japanese, resulting in its near destruction by Allied bombing. It was only in the 1990s that the palace was meticulously rebuilt through a combination of modern and traditional techniques, though sadly, many original structures were lost. Despite the ravages of time and war, Mandalay Royal Palace continues to be a testament to Myanmar’s rich history and architectural heritage. It is a place where history comes alive and resonates with the echoes of a bygone era.
