Built in the 18th century Maison Ferrier stands proudly at 79 Grand-Rue in Strasbourg. Its facade a testament to the craftsmanship of Jean Michel Starck. He began construction between 1764 and 1764. Sadly he didn’t live to see its completion. He died in 1764.

Philippe Antoine Ferrier purchased the incomplete Maison Ferrier in 1776. He added a floor and modified the balcony in 1779. This gave the building its present appearance.

The master mason Ixnard oversaw the work. His name however is not as well-known as Starck’s. A detail that adds to the mystery of this building. Ixnard’s contributions remain a subtle but important part of Maison Ferrier’s story.
