This is a famous surf spot. A boardwalk trails the shore to Slangkop lighthouse. It is the strongest and tallest cast iron lighthouse on the South African Coast.
The boardwalk continues to a WW II radar station. It’s on top of the mountain. From here, you get magnificent views. You can see all the way along the coastline to Cape Point.
Long Beach is also known for its stunning views. You can see up the mountainous coastline as far as Hout Bay. It is a beautiful spot for travelers. They want to be near Cape Town but not in the heart of it. Long Beach feels remote. Yet, it is close to restaurants and attractions. Cape Point Nature Reserve is nearby. It is a great location for long walks on the beach. The sunsets here are tranquil.
Long Beach offers a variety of activities. These include birdwatching, boat trips and canoeing. You can also enjoy cultural excursions and dune-boarding. Fishing, horse-riding and kayaking are other options. For the adventurous, there is microlighting, mountain biking and quad-biking. Scuba diving and snorkeling are also available.
