Feel the wind whispering tales of daring flights. Before you stands the Lim-2R a sleek testament to Polish aviation prowess. This isn’t just an airplane. It’s a time capsule. A piece of history brought back to life.

The Lim-2R a licensed copy of the MiG-15bis was more than just a fighter jet. It was a symbol of Polish ingenuity. Built in PZL Mielec between 1954 and 1956 it soared through Polish skies until the late 1980s. Imagine the pilots who flew this machine. Their courage their skill their dedication.

This specific Lim-2R number 512 NATO code Fagot served in the 34th Fighter Aviation Regiment in Babie Doły. Then it moved to the 61st Aviation Training and Combat Regiment in Biała Podlaska. Finally it ended its days at the airfield of the former 39th Fighter Aviation Regiment in Mierzyn. It’s a long and fascinating history for a single plane.

More than just a fighter. This Lim-2R was also a reconnaissance aircraft. Its armament included two NR-23 cannons each firing 950 rounds per minute. It also carried an S-13 photo camera an ASP-3N or ASP-3MN automatic sight bombs and rocket launchers. Notice the absence of the N-37 cannon. This was removed to make space for the camera on the left side behind the front landing gear. A clever modification for a multi-role aircraft.

The Lim-2R boasted impressive specifications. It had a top speed of 1075 km/h a rate of climb of 46.0 m/s and a service ceiling of 15500 meters. With additional tanks its range stretched to 2000 km. Think about that speed that altitude that distance. It was a remarkable achievement for its time.

This machine was more than a military asset. The Lim-2R also took part in air shows. Imagine the roar of its Lis-2 engine the spectacle of its maneuvers. It showcased Polish skill and technological advancement.

The Lim-2R before you is more than a relic. It’s a living legend. It reminds us of a time of intense technological competition. It symbolizes the resilience and ingenuity of Polish people. It’s a powerful reminder of a chapter in Poland’s proud aviation history. Take a moment to appreciate this magnificent machine. To reflect on the stories it holds. And the legacy it leaves behind.
