Leung King Estate is a public housing estate in Tuen Mun. It has eight residential buildings. The estate was built on the site of Leung Tin Village. The estate derives its name from this village. Nearby is Tin King Estate that also shares this origin.
Construction of Leung King Estate began in 1984. Residents started moving in between 1988 and 1990. The Hong Kong Housing Authority oversaw the project. Leung King Estate aimed to provide affordable housing. It sought to improve living conditions for Hong Kong residents.
Leung King Estate is located next to the Tsing Shan Firing Range. It is also near Tin King Estate. Originally, Leung King Estate and Tin King Estate were planned as one estate called Leung Tin Estate. In 1985, the project was split and renamed. Leung King Estate became blocks 1 to 9. Tin King Estate became blocks 10 to 16.
In its early years, Leung King Estate faced challenges. Its remote location led to lower rental rates compared to other estates. The government introduced incentives to attract tenants. They allowed residents from temporary housing areas to apply for units in Leung King Estate. This improved the estate’s occupancy and provided housing for those in need.
Leung King Estate has undergone significant changes over the years. In 2001, some flats were sold to tenants under the Tenants Purchase Scheme Phase 4. Today, many residents own their flats. This has created a strong sense of community.

Leung King Estate’s Leung Chi Lau once had a sky garden. It is now closed.
Siu Lung Court is a residential complex located northeast of Leung King Estate. It was established on May 15, 1991.
In the future, Moon Tin Estate will be another public housing estate near Leung King Estate. It is expected to be completed in 2025.
Leung King Estate has witnessed some unfortunate events. In 1994, a young woman was murdered in Leung Chun Lau. In 2006, the Owners’ Corporation controversially pruned many old trees in the estate.
Leung King Estate has a shopping center called Leung King Plaza. It features shops and restaurants. There is a Wellcome supermarket and a McDonald’s. The shopping center underwent a renovation completed in 2012. In 2016, the Leung King Market was renovated and renamed Leung King Market.
