Picture this a small group of Christians gathered on Saturday mornings near Leesburg Virginia. Their shared desire fueled their meetings. They yearned to spread the Gospel proclaim Christ’s return and establish a church in the area. This was the humble beginning of the Leesburg Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The Leesburg Seventh-day Adventist Church’s story isn’t just about a building. It’s a testament to faith perseverance and community growth. Initially they met in a rented hall at Catoctin Elementary School. In 1970 a minister was assigned to the Winchester-Loudoun area. An evangelistic series followed a year later. This led to the formation of the Leesburg Company and a building fund. Members from Philmont and Purcellville joined expanding their community.
Three years later on October 27 1973 the Leesburg Seventh-day Adventist Church officially became a church of the Potomac Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. A significant milestone was reached in 1978 when they purchased three acres on Dry Mill Road. This land was dedicated debt-free in April 1981 a remarkable achievement reflecting the congregation’s dedication.
The Leesburg Seventh-day Adventist Church has undergone a significant transformation over its four decades. It evolved from a mostly local congregation to a diverse body representing many countries. The founding members are no longer with us. Yet the church continues to thrive reflecting the ever-changing landscape of Northern Virginia.
Located in Loudoun County one of the fastest-growing counties in Virginia the church faces a unique challenge. They aim to reach a diverse population of new residents and long-time community members. The Leesburg Seventh-day Adventist Church continues to serve its community striving to spread its message. They invite everyone to join their Sabbath School at 10 am and their worship service at 11 am every Saturday. They also offer a virtual prayer meeting on Wednesday evenings.
