“Ready for a picnic?” I hear you ask. Well, you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to Laurel Picnic Area. This is a very special place within Greenbelt Park. It is a place for community, relaxation and enjoying nature.
The Laurel Picnic Area offers space for up to 200 people. Imagine the gatherings, the laughter and the shared meals that have taken place here. There are 99 parking spaces available. So, it makes it easy for everyone to join in the fun.
To use this fantastic space, reservations are required from April to October. You can plan your event six months in advance. You can reserve it online or by phone. Remember, a credit or debit card is needed for the reservation.
Once here, you will find about two dozen picnic tables. These tables are made from recycled plastic and steel frames. This shows a commitment to sustainability. There is a small grill and a large grill with three cooking surfaces.
Although the tables are shaded by trees, there is no pavilion. Keep an eye on the weather forecast. A little rain shouldn’t spoil a good time. There are restroom facilities nearby. They will provide the necessary conveniences for your group.
Apart from picnicking, there are other activities you can enjoy here. You’re welcome to wander in the forest. The 1.25-mile Azalea Trail is close by. Look for an unmarked connector trail at the end of the loop road.
Remember that the road to Laurel Picnic Area is gated. The gate is only open for those who have reserved the area. If the area is not reserved, you can still hike in.
