The bridge wasn’t always as smooth sailing. It has suffered some serious troubles. In 2008, a beam supporting the roadway collapsed. This led to major road closures, and Prague had to deal with a massive traffic headache. The bridge itself was fixable though, and it was repaired the following year. In 2017, following the tragic collapse of the Troja footbridge, officials were concerned about the bridge’s stability. The city was forced to enact weight restrictions to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers using the bridge. Over time, the bridge has undergone many improvements and repairs, but it can be a real challenge to maintain. Lanový most is a fascinating testament to engineering, and it plays a crucial role in the city’s infrastructure. It may not be the most glamorous bridge in Prague, but it’s certainly an interesting one with a story full of twists and turns.
