What secrets whisper within the walls of La Salle Primary School? We stand before La Salle Primary School, a place brimming with history. It’s more than just bricks and mortar; it’s a living testament to the dedication of the La Salle Brothers and the generations of students who have walked these halls. La Salle Primary School officially opened its doors on September 2, 1957, with Brother Henry Pang at the helm. Initially, it catered to students from Primary 5 and 6, with 425 pupils spread across 10 classes. The school quickly expanded, adding Primary 3 and 4 just a few months later in January 1958. The original structure, which served as an annex to La Salle College, was built in 1938. Just two years after the primary school’s establishment, a new wing mirroring the 1938 structure was completed. This expansion allowed the school to welcome Primary 1 and 2 students, growing to an impressive 32 classes with nearly 1,500 students attending morning and afternoon sessions. Lady Robert Black, wife of the then Governor, officially opened this new wing in June 1960. The school continued to thrive, undergoing further expansion in 1972. This addition brought with it a much-needed school hall, an audio-visual room, a swimming pool, a library, and two additional classrooms, bringing the total to eighteen. The second extension was officially opened in March 1972 by Brother Charles Henry, the Superior General of the La Salle Brothers, and blessed by Bishop Francis Hsu. Brother Henry Pang, the founding headmaster of La Salle Primary School, retired in 1984 after 28 years of dedicated service. From 1988 to 2002, La Salle Primary School functioned as two separate schools, each with three classes from Primary 1 to 6, sharing the same campus. A significant redevelopment project began in 2000, culminating in a brand-new school building. The foundation stone was laid by Mrs Fanny Law, the Secretary for Education and Manpower Bureau, in April 2001. The morning and afternoon schools merged in September 2002, becoming a whole-day primary school with 36 classes. This new era began in the newly constructed building, blessed by Cardinal Joseph Zen. La Salle Primary School, a place of learning and growth. Its journey, marked by expansion and redevelopment. It stands as a beacon of education.
