The Kulturzentrum Merlin is located in Stuttgart’s west. It serves as a stage for diverse cultural events. These include concerts, literature events and film screenings. It also has a charming cafe. The cafe welcomes everyone without expecting them to order anything.
The Kulturzentrum Merlin has a rich history. It started in 1983 as a cultural initiative. The aim was to run a Kulturcafé. In 1985, the Kulturverein Merlin e.V. was officially registered. Five years later, the Kulturverein moved to Augustenstraße 72.
The Kulturzentrum Merlin team invested countless hours. They transformed an old carpentry shop. It became a cultural center. Over time, the team grew from two to eight employees. The program expanded greatly. It now hosts over 150 events each year. These include concerts, readings, theater and film. The spaces are also rented out up to 350 times annually.
In October 2016, the Kulturzentrum Merlin celebrated its 33rd anniversary. It marked the occasion with a 33-hour program.
The Kulturzentrum Merlin sees itself as a socio-cultural center. It actively collaborates with initiatives and dedicated individuals. The center offers resources like space and time. It also provides know-how and logistical support. It supports working groups and initiative circles. The Kulturzentrum Merlin facilitates connections. It mediates between institutions and politics.
