Did this unassuming building on Sebastian-Kelch-Gasse once echo with the voices of Turkish workers, sharing stories of their homeland and navigating their new lives in Vienna? Right here, at number 9, stood the Kultur- und Solidaritätsverein türkischer Arbeiter in Österreich, a place where culture and solidarity intertwined. Established on September 23, 2021, this association aimed to be a beacon for Turkish workers in Austria. Imagine the bustling gatherings, the aroma of strong Turkish coffee and the sounds of traditional music filling the air. Sadly, this chapter of vibrant cultural exchange was short-lived. The Kultur- und Solidaritätsverein türkischer Arbeiter in Österreich dissolved voluntarily shortly after its founding. While the physical presence may be gone, the stories and contributions of Turkish workers remain woven into the fabric of Vienna.
