Wow what a vibrant tribute This is the Krzysztof Krawczyk Mural. It’s a massive 190 square meters of color and life. It’s not just paint it’s a story. A story about a beloved Polish singer. Krzysztof Krawczyk a true icon of Polish pop music.

The mural itself is on the north wall of a building. This building is the oldest inhabited building in Ursynów North. It was built in the 1930s. It’s a rather unassuming building now. Yet now it’s home to a vibrant artwork. Krawczyk lived nearby in the 1970s and 80s. He resided at Pięciolinii 10. The mural celebrates his connection to this neighborhood.

The artist Łukasz Zasadni won a competition to create the mural. He completed the project in just three days. The mural features a portrait of a younger Krawczyk. This evokes his time living in Ursynów. The image is set against a bright orange background. It pops against the building’s older architecture.

“Witamy na Ursynowie” greets us in bold letters. This translates to “Welcome to Ursynów”. It is the title of one of Krawczyk’s songs. The lyrics “To nasze osiedle jasne wesołe dziś Twoim domem jest” are also included. This translates to “This bright cheerful neighborhood is now your home.” The words beautifully capture the spirit of the place. This is a place where Krawczyk found happiness and inspiration.

The mural wasn’t unveiled until April 12th. That’s almost exactly two years after Krawczyk’s death on April 5th 2021. His widow Ewa Krawczyk was present at the unveiling. The mural serves as a lasting memorial. It is a vibrant and joyful celebration of his life. His music. His connection to this specific part of Warsaw.
