“Niech zstąpi Duch Twój i odnowi oblicze ziemi, tej ziemi” echoes the inscription above the tabernacle door inside. This, my friends, is the Ko\u015bci\u0142 pw. Zes\u0142ania Ducha \u015awi\u0119tego, the only church in Warsaw dedicated to the Descent of the Holy Spirit. The church we see today, completed in 2000, stands as a testament to the unwavering faith and dedication of its community. The story of the Ko\u015bci\u0142 pw. Zes\u0142ania Ducha \u015awi\u0119tego began in the 1980s, a time of great social and political upheaval in Poland. The dream of a new parish for the growing community of Piaski was entrusted to Father Antoni Pia\u015bcik. Imagine the scene in 1983. The first mass, held on a simple plot of land, marked the humble beginnings. Facing opposition and bureaucratic hurdles, Father Pia\u015bcik persevered, fueled by the support of his parishioners. A temporary chapel, erected that same year, became a beacon of hope and a place of gathering for the faithful. The year 1984 saw the official establishment of the parish, a victory celebrated on the day of Pentecost. Construction of the church, designed by Stanis\u0142aw So\u0142tyk, began in earnest in 1987. The interior, adorned with stunning works by sculptor Jerzy Machaj, speaks to the power of art to inspire faith. Pay close attention to the main altar and the side chapel with its intricate depiction of the Mysteries of the Rosary. Look up and marvel at the magnificent rose window, its three-meter expanse depicting the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. Finally, in 2000, the Ko\u015bci\u0142 pw. Zes\u0142ania Ducha \u015awi\u0119tego was complete. The consecration by Cardinal Józef Glemp in 2002 marked not just the completion of a building but the fulfillment of a dream.
