The cornerstone. That’s where it all began for the Kościół pw. Matki Bożej Anielskiej. Imagine the year 1922. A small community rallied. They poured their hearts and hands into building this church. This very Kościół pw. Matki Bożej Anielskiej.

This wasn’t just another building project. This was a testament to their faith. It was a symbol of hope in a time of uncertainty. The residents mostly from the Stowarzyszenie Miłośników Letniska Radość association toiled tirelessly. They wanted a place of worship for their growing community. A place to gather. A place to connect with their faith.

Architect and engineer Paszkiewicz designed this beautiful building. Construction began in 1922. It wasn’t completed overnight. In 1930 Father Bronisław Lewandowski became the rector. He oversaw much of the construction. He pushed the walls upwards. Father Luczak later completed the building. He added the zinc roof. Father Stanisław Jaczewski plastered the interior. Father Aleksander Biernacki finally installed central heating.

The dedication ceremony took place on August 4 1957. Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński himself performed the consecration. This was a momentous occasion. The community rejoiced. Their dreams had finally been realized. The Kościół pw. Matki Bożej Anielskiej stood tall. A beacon of faith and hope in the heart of Warsaw.

In 1959 two catechism rooms were added beneath the presbytery. These rooms provided space for religious instruction. The young people of the parish could attend classes. They could learn about their faith. Their spiritual growth was important. A tower was added between 1962 and 1963. Professor Stanisław Marzyński designed it. Two bells hang in the tower. They were cast in 1936. They are named Wacław and Wojciech. These bells were a gift. The Zalewscy family gave them in memory of their sons. Wacław and Wojciech died in 1927.

The Kościół pw. Matki Bożej Anielskiej stands as a testament to faith and perseverance. It’s a beautiful reminder of the dedication and effort of the people who built it. It continues to serve as a place of spiritual refuge for many. This humble church stands as a testament to the strength of the human spirit. It echoes the unwavering belief in something greater.
