Ready to discover Kista kyrka? This octagonal church stands as a beacon in the heart of Kista near the subway and Kista Galleria. Kista kyrka is part of the Spånga-Kista parish. Let’s explore its story.

The Kista kyrka was designed by architect Zoltán Bedecs. Construction began in 1977 and the church was inaugurated in 1978. The Kista kyrka is built with red brick wood and concrete. It integrates community spaces within its structure.

Did you know that beneath the church hall lies a crypt shaped like an amphitheater? It is an interesting architectural choice. The windows of Kista kyrka feature stained glass. These designs are also by the architect Zoltán Bedecs.

As you enter Kista kyrka notice its north-south orientation. The choir is in the south and the entrance is in the north. An entrance from the community rooms is on the church room’s east side.

Look up. A lanternin sits in the middle of the church room’s ceiling. It is partially hidden by the roof. Atop the lanternin is a cross with an open design. This cross was completed in 1984 also by Zoltán Bedecs.

Northwest of Kista kyrka stands a bell tower. It rests on a high concrete base. The tower was built in 1984. It has a wooden frame. Red-brown slanted wood panels cover it.

Inside Kista kyrka find the baptismal font. It was designed by the church’s architect. The font is cast in cement. It features a red brick base. An octagonal cup with gilded decor adorns it.

The current organ was built in 1982. A Mårtenssons Orgelfabrik AB in Lund created it. It features mechanical action and electrical stops. It also has eight free combinations. The organ facade was designed by the church’s architect.

In the crypt there is also an organ. This organ was moved here in 1985 from Donsö Church. Wilhelm Hemmersam in Copenhagen built it in 1955. It is a mechanical organ.

Kista kyrka stands as a modern religious space. It is a place where community and faith intertwine in the heart of Kista. Its architecture and art offer a unique experience. Take a moment to appreciate the thoughtful design. Consider the history within these walls.
