Is it possible to capture the entirety of the Czech Republic’s railway system in miniature? That’s precisely what the Kingdom of Railways achieves. Right here in Prague. Prepare to be amazed by this interactive exhibit. It is located underground on Stroupežnického street in Smichov.
The Kingdom of Railways is no ordinary model train display. It’s the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic. You’ll find yourself immersed in a miniature world. This world replicates the important towns of the Czech Republic.
As you explore the Kingdom of Railways, notice how much of the country is represented. Prague, Central Bohemia, Pilsen and Karlovy Vary are all here. Hundreds of meters of tiny tracks wind through detailed landscapes.
The trains in the Kingdom of Railways aren’t just for show. They can be operated digitally with a small switch. Watch as the Bohemian region comes alive. Trains travel through little farms, tunnels and fields. The exhibit even simulates the changing of day and night. See how it affects the model’s traffic.
Kids will especially love the Thomas the Tank Engine exhibit. They can even try driving a simulated engine. It comes complete with realistic controls.

If you’re planning a visit, the Kingdom of Railways is open every day. The hours are 9:00 to 19:00. It is open on public holidays too. The last entry is at 18:00.
To get here, take the metro. Get off at Anděl station on the yellow B line. You can also take trams 4, 7, 9, 10 or 12 to the Anděl stop. If you’re driving, there is parking at the Nový Smíchov Shopping Mall. The first three hours are free. Weekends offer five free hours.
Before heading downstairs to the exhibit, buy your tickets at the toy shop. It’s located at the entrance. Lockers are available for coats and bags.
Note that there aren’t refreshments available inside. So be sure to bring your own snacks.
