“Hold on tight, miners!” our guide chuckled, his voice barely audible above the excited squeals and the clatter of the chain lift. We were about to embark on a thrilling adventure on the Kettle Creek Mine Coaster, nestled right here in Vancouver’s Playland. The Kettle Creek Mine Coaster, a whimsical nod to British Columbia’s rich mining history, isn’t just any roller coaster. It’s a journey back in time, a simulated mine shaft ride that sends you twisting and turning through tunnels and around bends. The coaster, designed by E&F Miler Industries, opened in 2004 and quickly became a family favourite. It’s a classic steel coaster, known for its smooth ride and those charming mine cart-themed cars. As we climbed higher, anticipation crackled in the air, a palpable buzz of excitement that only a roller coaster can inspire. The Kettle Creek Mine Coaster might not be the tallest or the fastest, but its unique charm and playful energy make it a true gem in Playland’s crown. Get ready for a wild ride!
