Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Hong Kong’s educational landscape stands Kellett School. Kellett School traces its origins back to 1976. A group of parents envisioned a British-style education, rich in arts and sports, with smaller class sizes than other schools. Originally called “Starters,” Kellett School embarked on its journey with a diverse group of 44 students, representing nationalities from Britain and America to China and Japan. Kellett School’s first principal, Vivienne Steer, nurtured this budding community. By 1977, Kellett School’s student body tripled, necessitating a move to Tai Koo Shing. In 1980, Kellett School found its home in Wah Fu, overlooking the picturesque Kellett Bay, which lends the school its name. This marked the establishment of the Pok Fu Lam campus. In 1996, Ann McDonald took the reins as principal, guiding Kellett School through a period of growth and expansion. Kellett School expanded its reach in 2007, providing education up to age thirteen at the Pok Fu Lam campus. A temporary senior school location was established in Shau Kei Wan. The school continued to flourish, and the demand for senior school places prompted the search for a dedicated site. In 2009, Kellett School was granted a greenfield site in Kowloon Bay. This led to the development of a new preparatory school and a purpose-built senior school, which opened its doors in 2013. The Kowloon Bay campus boasts a 45,000 square meter footprint, featuring impressive facilities. These facilities include a theater, CrossFit gym, swimming pool, and Sky Pitch. The campus also has a six-lane indoor swimming pool, an auditorium, spaces for art and drama, and gardens. Kellett School now operates across two campuses: Pok Fu Lam and Kowloon Bay. It comprises three schools: Pok Fu Lam Preparatory School, Kowloon Bay Preparatory School, and Kowloon Bay Senior School. The Pok Fu Lam campus houses the first preparatory school, catering to students from Reception to Year 6, with a three-form entry. The Kowloon Bay campus hosts the second preparatory school and the senior school in one building. The preparatory school also caters to Reception through Year 6, but with a two-form entry. The senior school caters to Years 7 through 13, with a four-form entry. From its humble beginnings with 44 students, Kellett School has grown to an enrollment of over 1,400 students. The school has upheld its founders’ vision, providing a high-quality, British-style education while fostering a diverse and inclusive community.
