Kat Tsai Wan. A tranquil bay nestled on the Sai Kung Peninsula. It’s more than just a picturesque spot. It holds a unique place in Hong Kong’s history. Imagine the Scout Association of Hong Kong chose this very spot for a grand Jamboree. Thousands of scouts gathered here to celebrate the millennium between 1999 and 2000. Another Jamboree marked 90 years of Hong Kong Scouting in 2001. Kat Tsai Wan’s beauty isn’t its only draw. It also offers practical amenities for camping. Before the public could freely explore its shores, Kat Tsai Wan was a restricted area. It opened to the public in late 1999. Since 1996, it has been a protected part of the Sai Kung West Country Park. The peninsula connects to the mainland at Lan Lo Au. It features two prominent hills, Tai Leng Tun and Nam Fung Shan. Its northernmost point is known as Ocean Point. To reach this serene bay, take a ferry from Wong Shek Pier. The pier is located on the southwestern edge of Long Harbour. Kat Tsai Wan awaits, offering a peaceful escape amidst nature’s embrace.
