Kapliczka Matki Boskiej

Hidden amidst the urban tapestry of Warsaw, the Kapliczka Matki Boskiej whispers tales of devotion and resilience. The Kapliczka Matki Boskiej isn’t just a wayside shrine. The original structure on this site, purchased in 1864, served as a humble shelter known as “Przytulisko.” A simple wooden chapel graced the grounds in 1870, offering solace to those seeking refuge. Years later, between 1911 and 1915, the Przytulisko expanded, gaining two additional floors and a new chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. This Kapliczka Matki Boskiej, consecrated on March 18, 1915, by Bishop Kazimierz Ruszkiewicz, became a sanctuary for the faithful. Within its walls resides a treasured image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. This image, blessed by Pope Leo XIII himself, journeyed from Rome, carried by Sister Kazimiera Gruszczyńska. Another revered image, the Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn, arrived in 1946, finding a new home within the Kapliczka Matki Boskiej after its journey from Vilnius. In 1951, a statue of St. Joseph joined the sacred collection, further enriching the spiritual atmosphere. The Kapliczka Matki Boskiej has witnessed the passage of time, enduring through renovations in 1950 and again between 1999 and 2000. It has withstood the tests of time, much like the faith it represents. It has provided comfort during times of uncertainty and hope during times of despair. The Kapliczka Matki Boskiej stands not only as a historical landmark but as a living embodiment of faith and community. It serves as a reminder that even in the heart of a bustling city, moments of quiet reflection and spiritual connection can be found.
