How about a hidden gem just 45 minutes from Prague? Here at Kamýcká vyhlídka, a peaceful atmosphere lets you soak in the Vltava River’s beauty. It has its meanders.

Kamýcká vyhlídka offers a “horseshoe bend” view. It is much greener than the one on the Colorado River. The Vltava gracefully flows between the Slapy dam’s cliffs here. If you want to escape crowds, Kamýcká vyhlídka is a must.

The viewpoint retains its natural beauty. You won’t find railings or an artificial viewing deck at Kamýcká vyhlídka. It is simply just a rock. It’s only one kilometer from Teletín village. The road leads through a meadow then into the forest. You may find only one stand with snacks nearby. There are few parking spots. You can leave your car at a meadow near Teletín.

The viewpoint itself is really just a place on the rock. Want the best meandering view? Climb down a bit from Kamýcká vyhlídka. Be careful. Another safer spot exists to the left of Kamýcká vyhlídka. A tiny footpath leads down the hill. Fewer people are usually there. You can enjoy this beautiful Vltava River canyon in tranquility.

Before the Slapy dam’s construction, the Vltava River was dangerous here. There were fast rapids. Raftsmen bringing wood into Prague feared the “Svatojánké” rapids.

Did you know “Máj” means May in English?

Getting to Kamýcká vyhlídka is easiest by car. You can park in Teletín village. A small car park exists. It’s likely to be full. If so, park in a meadow nearby or surrounding villages.

You can also get here by bus. The bus goes from Štěchovice to Benešov. Find your bus connection online.

By bike, prolong your Máj trip with a ride around the Slapy Water Reservoir. The surroundings of Slapy are nice and rugged. You will not be alone on the bike.

Just 170 meters north, another viewpoint awaits. It is Mařenka. Two hundred meters further is Myšák.

If you want to hike, Bednář viewpoint is another beauty. You can continue to Teletínské waterfalls. Do not expect big waterfalls. It is just a creek.

Remember these tips. Take a map or GPS for hiking. The mapy.cz app has great tourist maps. Download them for offline use. Bring water. Teletín has no pub. There is only a small stand near Kamýcká vyhlídka. Plan lunch in nearby villages.

The nearest pubs are in Nedvězí or Krňany. You will find the nearest accommodation in the Slapy area. The Pension Janata is a lovely pension. Or try one night at Castle Lešany.

So, come to Kamýcká vyhlídka. Enjoy the views and peaceful atmosphere.
