Have you ever heard of a place that was once a farmhouse, then a torp, and finally a place for sports? This is the enchanting history of Källbrinks idrottsplats, the multi-purpose sporting heart of Huddinge, a place that boasts a rich and diverse story.

Källbrinks idrottsplats is a testament to the evolving needs of a community. The land that it occupies was once known as Källbrink, a torp, a small farm, nestled under Fullersta gård. Its story dates back to 1689. It was here that the last torpare, Anders Dahlström and his wife Charlotta, lived and worked, until tragedy struck in 1886 when their home was destroyed in a fire. A new house was built on that same site in 1917, though both buildings are now gone.

After years of searching for the perfect setting, the community finally decided to build a new sports complex in Källbrink in 1978. This marked a significant shift in the landscape of the area, transforming the land from a quiet rural setting to a vibrant sports hub. On May 22, 1982, the official inauguration ceremony was held, witnessing the creation of Källbrinks idrottsplats, a name synonymous with the passion for sports in the area.

The sports complex is a dynamic space, home to Huddinge IF, Spårvägen cykel, Snättringe SK, and Huddinge AIS. It is a place where children have their first steps in sports, where young athletes strive for excellence, and where seasoned veterans continue to inspire. Källbrinks idrottsplats houses ten changing rooms, ensuring that everyone has a comfortable space to prepare for their sporting endeavors. Within the complex, Huddinge Tennis Club, a powerhouse in Swedish tennis, thrives with its own tennis hall, conference rooms, a café, and a shop for tennis equipment. With seven courts, four indoors and three outdoors, and over 900 members, it is one of Sweden’s largest tennis clubs.

It’s not just a place for professional athletes, but a hub for school children. Students, particularly from the nearby Källbrinksskolan, enjoy their physical education classes here. This ensures that the future generations of athletes have access to quality facilities and are instilled with a passion for sports. As you stand here, think about the generations of athletes who have trained, competed, and celebrated on this hallowed ground, each leaving their own unique mark on this dynamic space.
