Is it possible to capture the essence of a district in a single story? Let’s explore Kajicho, a unique place in Tokyo. Kajicho is a district within Chiyoda. It offers a glimpse into Tokyo’s past and present.

Kajicho is made up of Kajicho 1-chome and Kajicho 2-chome. There is also Kanda-Kajicho 3-chome. In 2007, the population of these districts totaled 371.

These districts sit in northeastern Chiyoda. Kajicho borders several other districts. These include Kanda-Sudacho to the north. To the east are Kanda-Higashimatsushitacho and others. To the south are Nihonbashi-Muromachi and more. Uchi-Kanda and Kanda-Tsukasacho lie to the west.

Modernization has changed Kajicho 1 and 2-chome. But Kanda-Kajicho 3-chome has not been modernized yet. Before modernization, Kajicho 1 and 2-chome were Kanda-Kajicho 1 and 2-chome. The “Kanda-” prefix shows it belonged to the old Kanda Ward.

Kajicho and Kanda-Kajicho are business areas. They are near Kanda Station. Many offices and stores are here. Kanda Station sits on Kajicho’s western edge. During the Edo period, Kajicho was home to craftsmen. Carpenters, lacquerers, and smiths lived here. Properties were small and partitioned. Today, there are small buildings with restaurants and businesses. This contrasts sharply with the skyscrapers of Nihonbashi.

Kajicho offers a culinary adventure. The Kanda Food and Drinking Tour happens nearby. You can enjoy Japanese cuisine and drinks here. The tour includes dinner and vegetarian options. It starts at Kanda Station West Entrance. The address is 2 Chome-13 Kajicho.

The Chiyoda Board of Education manages local schools. Chiyoda Elementary School serves Kajicho. There is school choice for junior high.

One can find a restaurant at 2-11-17, Kajicho. It’s a short walk from Kanda Station. The restaurant offers dinner and lunch. It is open every day except for New Year holidays. You can pay with cards. They have private rooms and allow smoking in a designated area. There is an English menu and Wi-Fi.

Kajicho is more than just a location. It is a blend of history and modern life. It is a place where craftsmen once worked. Now businesses thrive. The small buildings stand in contrast to nearby skyscrapers. So take a stroll around Kajicho. See how old and new Tokyo meet.
