In 1666, nobleman Bernard Ignác z Martinic laid the foundation for what would become Kajetánka. Kajetánka started as a small monastery, gifted to the Theatines, an Italian order of priests also known as the Cajetans. This is where Kajetánka gets its name. The monastery included a chapel modeled after the Basilica of the Virgin Mary in Altötting, Bavaria. This chapel at Kajetánka quickly became a popular pilgrimage site, even attracting Emperor Leopold I and his wife in 1672. Later, Empress Dowager Eleonora Mantovská visited in 1680. The monastery saw renovations between 1685 and 1721. However, after the Theatine order relocated to Hradčany, Kajetánka fell into disrepair and was dissolved in 1783. Only the pilgrimage chapel survived, becoming deconsecrated and sold into private ownership in 1791. Kajetánka transformed again in the late 18th century when Jan Hennet, the then-owner, converted it into a small chateau. The Kounic family acquired the property in the early 19th century and created a sprawling English garden. In the 1930s, Kajetánka belonged to the mayor of Břevnov, Jan Kolátor. During the communist era, it served as a district pioneer and youth house. Returned to the Kolátor family after the Velvet Revolution, Kajetánka was in a dilapidated state. It continued to deteriorate until a new owner and investor stepped in. Between 2010 and 2014, Kajetánka underwent a significant renovation, emerging as a luxury residential complex. The chateau was preserved, with its grand hall and lounges remaining prominent features. Now, it houses a restaurant, with a kitchen on the ground floor and administrative offices above. The complex also boasts 145 apartments across several buildings and the restored Baroque Orangery provides luxurious living spaces. The revitalized Kajetánka Park, with its pond and gardens, is open to the public. The complex even garnered awards in the Real Estate Project 2011, including 1st place in Prague 6 by the Expert Jury and the Public Award in Prague 6.
