“Kaishin Daiichi Chū Gakkō?” Ever heard of it? It is also known as Kaishin First Junior High School. But wait. There’s more to the story. This school is not just any ordinary junior high.

Kaishin First Junior High School sits in Hayamiya Nerima Tokyo. It is a public school with a rich history. Locals affectionately call it Kaiitchū or Kaishin Itchū.

Let’s journey back in time. The school was established in April 1947. It was initially named Itabashi City Kaishin First Junior High School. A significant change occurred in August. Nerima separated from Itabashi. The school then became Nerima City Kaishin First Junior High School.

The school proudly established its school song on May 1 1948. A new school building was completed on the current location. It was completed on June 27 1949.

Kaishin First Junior High School continued to evolve. In April 2010 it gained recognition. It was designated as a Nerima City Education Committee Curriculum Research site. The school marked its 70th anniversary on April 1 2017.

Extracurricular activities are a key part of school life. Athletic students can participate in badminton baseball or basketball. Soccer soft tennis table tennis and volleyball are also options. For those inclined toward arts there’s art brass band and calligraphy. Cultural research and gardening are further options.

Getting to Kaishin First Junior High School is easy. Hikawadai Station is only ten minutes away on foot. Take the 1st Exit of the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho or Fukutoshin Line. Heiwadai Station is twelve minutes away on foot. Simply use the South Exit of the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho or Fukutoshin Line.

Nobutoshi Hagihara a historian once taught here. Also Suzue Takayama is an alumni. She is a former women’s volleyball player and a Mexican Olympics silver medalist.
