Established in 1947 the Junior and Senior High School at Komaba University of Tsukuba stands before you. This prestigious institution boasts a rich history. It began as a junior high school affiliated with the Tokyo Agricultural School. Later it was renamed Komaba Junior and Senior High School. This was after its affiliation shifted to Tokyo University of Education in 1952. Finally in 1978 it became part of the University of Tsukuba.
Tsukukoma as it’s affectionately known is unique. It’s the only national boys’ school in Japan. Its academic excellence is renowned. Graduates frequently attend the University of Tokyo a highly prestigious university. This is a testament to Tsukukoma’s rigorous academic program.
The school’s liberal spirit is evident in its lack of uniforms. Both junior and senior high students enjoy this freedom. The school grounds hold a piece of history. They sit on the former Komaba Agricultural School site. A tradition of rice cultivation continues. Students tend to the Kellner Paddy a testament to the school’s agricultural roots.

This proximity is about 700 meters south of the Komaba Campus. The campus mainly houses first and second-year undergraduates.
