In 1970 a public land was invaded. People settled in Jardim Irene. This was the beginning of Jardim Irene. It wasn’t a planned community. It was a spontaneous act of settling. Over the years Jardim Irene grew. It became a vibrant neighborhood. Many families called Jardim Irene home. In 2002 Jardim Irene received international attention. Cafu a famous football player from Jardim Irene. He won the World Cup. He wore a shirt with ‘100% Jardim Irene’ on it. This event put Jardim Irene on the map. It showed the world the pride of its residents. The land was eventually regularized. This happened in 2004. The process brought stability. It ensured the future of Jardim Irene. But the story of Jardim Irene didn’t end there. In 2008 a major urbanisation project began. It was a significant undertaking. It improved living conditions. This included building 160 new housing units. The project also improved infrastructure. New drainage systems were put in place. The water and sewage networks were repaired. Local streams were cleaned and channeled. The beautification of Jardim Irene was not neglected. Three squares and a linear park were created. There is also a plaza for the elderly. This has a park for kids up to 3 years old. A park for older children and teenagers was built as well. This effort aimed at improving quality of life. The aim was to create a better Jardim Irene.
