High above Quarry Bay begins our trek. We are about to ascend the famous Jacob’s Ladder Cave.
This isn’t just any set of steps. Jacob’s Ladder Cave forms a challenging section of the Wilson Trail. It leads us toward Mount Butler’s peak.
Imagine these stone steps winding endlessly upward. They cut a path through the lush landscape. This section is part of Section 2 of the Wilson Trail. It is a physical challenge and a journey into Hong Kong’s natural beauty.
As you climb Jacob’s Ladder Cave, notice the views. Take short breaks, and look back toward Quarry Bay. You’ll see the densely developed Tai Koo area. The views become more rewarding with every step.

Our journey doesn’t end at the top of Jacob’s Ladder Cave. The trail continues. We descend across Siu Ma Shan, Little Horse Hill. The path leads us to Sir Cecil’s Ride.
Sir Cecil’s Ride is a paved road. It provides access to the Mount Butler RF Radio Receiving Station. It connects to Mount Butler Road.
The final leg of our walk is along the Wong Ngai Chung Tree Walk. This easy stroll takes us to Park Place luxury apartments. Here, we complete the hike, reflecting on the challenge and beauty of Jacob’s Ladder Cave.
