Slipping through time, imagine Kawasaki’s Inukura, not as the concrete jungle it is today, but a sprawling expanse of rice paddies and thatched-roof houses. Inukura, meaning “dog kennel,” whispers of a past where hunting dogs may have roamed freely. Today, nestled within Miyamae-ku, Inukura 3-chome is a practical haven for modern travelers. Forget ancient kennels. Think parking! This 24/7 haven offers six precious parking units for those navigating Kawasaki’s bustling streets. Inukura’s parking area caters to vehicles with specific dimensions: a height limit of 2 meters, a width of 1.9 meters, and a length of 5 meters, with a maximum weight of 2 tons. The fee structure is a bit of a puzzle. Twenty-four-hour parking can cost either 100 or 900 yen depending on the specific time frame. Shorter stays are available too, with 40 minutes costing 200 yen and 60 minutes costing 100 yen. A maximum charge applies between 7 PM and 8 AM. For all-day parking, it’s 500 yen, while a 24-hour period can reach 900 yen. This maximum charge repeats. Thankfully, Inukura embraces modern convenience. Credit cards, Repark business cards, SS cards, and NBM Cards are all accepted. So, while the dogs may be gone, Inukura continues to serve. It’s a modern-day refuge for those seeking a safe spot for their vehicles in the heart of Kawasaki.
