Established in December 2013 as the “Immigration Department Youth Leaders,” the program underwent a transformation in 2021. It expanded its reach to include students from Secondary 1 to 6, becoming the “Immigration Department Youth Leaders Corps.” This expansion allowed more young people to benefit from the program’s diverse training. The training encompasses six key areas: national education, immigration knowledge, foot drill, physical fitness, expeditions, and community service. National education covers crucial aspects like the national flag, emblem, anthem, Basic Law, and the Hong Kong National Security Law. Immigration knowledge, taught by officers from the Immigration Service Institute of Training and Development, provides insights into immigration control, document types, and law enforcement. Foot drills instill discipline and improve concentration, fostering teamwork among the members. Physical fitness training emphasizes the importance of exercise for maintaining good health. Expeditions equip students with practical skills like map reading, compass use, and outdoor cooking. Community service instills a sense of social responsibility and encourages a passion for serving others.
