How does a small seed grow into a mighty tree? The story of Igreja Presbiteriana Monte Sião in São Paulo begins similarly. It sprouted from the dedicated evangelistic work of IP Leme in the late 1980s.

Imagine those early days. The neighborhoods of Sumaré Santana São Manuel and Primavera saw the seeds of faith being sown. Sister Dalva Bratifish worked tirelessly going house to house. Presbyters Caubi Freitas and Silas Lopes preached taught and helped nurture the growing flock.

In 1995 Reverend Mauri De Marchi arrived. He fostered growth alongside the social project APAS. APAS stands for Associação Presbiteriana de Ação Social. This collaboration strengthened the church’s connection to the community.

A significant partnership developed in 1999. IP Leme joined forces with PMC Plano Missionário Cooperativo. Together they built the church’s current building. This space became shared by the church and APAS. It was a testament to their combined mission.

Finally in 2002 the Presbytery of Limeira recognized the congregation as an official church. Igreja Presbiteriana Monte Sião was born. It was a moment of great joy and celebration.

Today Igreja Presbiteriana Monte Sião continues to thrive. Reverend Ricardo A Pegoraro leads the congregation. He is a graduate of the Seminário Presbiteriano do Sul. He also holds a post-graduate degree in Revitalization and Church Multiplication.

Reverend Ricardo served his licensure at Igreja Presbiteriana Monte Sião in 2007. He continues to serve as the senior pastor. His dedication ensures the church remains a beacon of faith.

Igreja Presbiteriana Monte Sião is more than just a building. It is a community. It is a testament to faith perseverance and collaborative spirit. From humble beginnings to a vibrant present its story inspires all who enter its doors. The church actively engages with its community hosting events and services. They offer various ways to contribute. These include tithes offerings and support for missions.

The story of Igreja Presbiteriana Monte Sião is a reminder that great things often have small beginnings. Its history is interwoven with the broader story of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil. Ashbel Green Simonton the founder of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil would be proud. He and José Manoel da Conceição shaped Presbyterianism in Brazil. Their legacy lives on. Igreja Presbiteriana Monte Sião stands as a testament to their enduring vision.
