Founded in a humble living room, Igreja El Shaday’s story is one of faith and growth. Pastor José Carlos Santos Pereira started the church on November 2, 1992. The first services were held in his living room. These were small, intimate gatherings. They formed the heart of what would become a vibrant community. Originally Baptist, Pastor José Carlos embraced the cell church model. He nurtured the small group, creating a strong foundation for Igreja El Shaday. A chance encounter played a pivotal role in the church’s journey. In 1993, Fábio A. Abbud needed car repairs. He sought out Pastor José Carlos, who did bodywork in his secular life. They connected immediately. Fábio accepted an invitation to the Sunday cell meetings. This connection blossomed into a deep friendship and discipleship. Fábio became a member of Igreja El Shaday. His passion for Jesus shone brightly. He quickly became Pastor José Carlos’s main helper. He played a key role in the church’s development. In 1996, Pastor José Carlos decided to move to Campo Grande, MS. He wanted to plant another church. He entrusted Igreja El Shaday in São Paulo to his devoted disciple, Fábio. On April 28, 1996, Fábio was ordained as a pastor. He took over leadership of the church a few months later. Today, Igreja El Shaday continues to thrive. It embraces its cell church model. It welcomes newcomers to experience the warmth and fellowship that began in a simple living room decades ago.
