In 1958 a wave of faith washed over Brazil. The Igreja do Nazareno a church born from a desire for holiness arrived. It began humbly in a Campinas home. Three American families the Mostellers Gates and Stegmoller spearheaded this mission. They were joined by a few Brazilians marking the first worship service.

The Igreja do Nazarene Central de Campinas formally organized in 1960 was the first in Brazil.
