In 1989, a transformation began in Tegucigalpa. This was the year the seeds of Iglesia Cielos Abiertos were sown. The founders, Pastors Leonel and Esther Mateo, embarked on their spiritual journey. They spent ten years under the guidance of Ministerio Adonaí. There, they learned about ministry life and grew in their faith. By the end of 1999, a new chapter unfolded. After much prayer and guidance from Bishop Dr. Kittim Silva, the couple embraced a divine calling. Iglesia Cielos Abiertos was born. Like many ministries, it started small. The Mateo’s held gatherings in their home. These intimate meetings steadily grew, eventually outgrowing their apartment. Iglesia Cielos Abiertos moved to a larger space. The church faced challenges, but the pastors remained steadfast in their faith. They witnessed God’s hand guiding them through difficulties. They found strength in the belief that God equips and supports those He calls. The church stands as a testament to their perseverance and the support they received from Bishop Silva and other leaders. Iglesia Cielos Abiertos continues to serve the growth of God’s kingdom. It’s a place where the community gathers. They pray together every last Friday of the month, upholding the words of Luke 21:36 to watch and be ready.
