“Innovation through mutual influence.” That’s the motto that defines the International Conference Artwork Expertise and Art Law or I.C.A.E.

ICAE is a unique international event. It allows you to learn about the complete life cycle of a work of art. This includes registration and identification. It also covers commercialization and its use as a financial asset.

ICAE highlights the interaction between different professionals. These specialists come from all fields involved in the art market. It seeks to achieve innovation through mutual influence.

The third edition of ICAE took place in São Paulo on November 4, 2023. Gustavo Perino and Anauene Soares brought the event to São Paulo. They aimed to discuss science and technique. They also wanted to cover cultural heritage preservation. The art market was another key topic.

ICAE was the first international congress on art authentication in Latin America. Givoa Art Consulting created it. The first edition occurred in Buenos Aires in 2016. Rio de Janeiro hosted the second in 2018.

ICAE is a congress attended by leading authorities. They are national and international experts. Their fields include art expertise and art law. Collecting is another field.

Over 50 institutions strongly support ICAE. Both public and private entities support it. Hurst Capital and Kura sponsored it. W.Advisors, Fine Art, and Tokenizart also sponsored it. MAM/SP and Essencis Technologies were strategic partners.

The event took place at the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art. The focus was on art law, collecting, and the art market.

The event featured an opening with Cauê Alves. Alves is the chief curator of MAM/SP. He commented on interdisciplinary research processes. Daniela Matera Lins also participated. She is the director of the National Museum of Fine Arts. She represented IBRAM. Lins addressed IBRAM’s activities. She also discussed the protection of cultural heritage.

A panel discussion on Art Authentication took place. Vanessa Bortulucce mediated it. The panel covered the impact of research. It also discussed the impact on the valuation of artworks. Gustavo Perino discussed international due diligence. Alejandra Leyba presented interdisciplinary work in forensic art. Luciano Delgado Tercero spoke about best practices in Europe.

Another panel focused on Art Law. Sunna Altnoder from UNESCO presented a video. It covered combating illicit trafficking of cultural goods. Anauene Dias Soares addressed due diligence. José Miguel Puccinelli discussed Argentinian cases on provenance. Nichollas Alem covered contracts involving artworks.

The Art Market panel explored various services in collecting. Nei Vargas moderated it. Thaís Franco discussed collection management. Arthur Farache presented art investment results. Leonardo Wengrover introduced his company’s services. Alex Tso discussed his gallery as a space for cultural discussions. Tamara Perlman mediated a discussion with Ulisses Cohn and Victoria Zuffo. They represented gallery associations.

ICAE is more than just a conference. It is a unique experience. It fosters innovation in the art world. It unites experts. It promotes knowledge. The I.C.A.E seeks to achieve a secure and reliable art market for all.
