Established in 1926 Hutt Valley High School stands proudly. It’s a place where generations of students have learned grown and thrived. Originally an amalgamation of Petone District High School and Hutt District High School Hutt Valley High School opened its doors in 1926. The 164 foundation pupils were initially housed at Petone Technical School while the new buildings were being completed. Imagine 164 students eager to learn in temporary classrooms. The school’s first principal was H P Kidson. He oversaw the move to the current location on Woburn Road. The grounds were initially quite rural with sheep grazing nearby.
