Hus 2 a modern marvel stands tall in Stockholm’s Hammarby Gård. This isn’t your grandmother’s apartment building. Hus 2 is a testament to innovative design and efficient construction. Built in 2015 it’s part of a larger residential complex. It’s one of seven houses in the HG7 block.

The architects Arrhov Frick Arkitektkontor cleverly designed Hus 2. They wanted sunlight in every apartment all day long. So they made the building long and thin. One side catches the morning sun. The opposite side gets the evening sun. Each apartment stretches between these two sides.

The floor plan is simple yet brilliant. An open space forms the heart of each home. This space includes the living room kitchen and dining area. A central core holds the entrance and kitchen. Residents can arrange their living and dining areas. They can face the courtyard or the street. Bedrooms connect to this central space without any hallways.

But the real wow factor of Hus 2 is its balconies. They cover the entire courtyard facade. The balconies have a steel structure. They feature sliding glass panels framed in galvanized steel. These balconies extend living space. Residents clearly love using them. Prefabricated concrete made this extra feature affordable. The facades and dividing walls are load-bearing. This simplified construction. It also significantly reduced building time.

Hus 2 isn’t just a building. It’s a statement. It’s a showcase of modern architectural ingenuity. It successfully blends functionality with aesthetics. It offers a comfortable and sustainable living experience. Its design is clever and efficient. It’s a significant addition to Stockholm’s modern cityscape. Next time you are in Hammarby Gård appreciate Hus 2’s thoughtful design and inspiring modern style.
