Hung Shing Yeh Beach has a story to tell. Let’s step back in time to March 11, 1979. The freighter Skyluck arrived. About 100 Vietnamese refugees jumped ship. They swam towards Lamma Island. Half were caught at sea. The other half landed mainly at Hung Shing Yeh Beach. Sadly, they were all captured by the police.
In 1997 and 1998, the Regional Council built new facilities here. These included changing rooms and toilets. There was also a first aid room and a staff office. A lifeguard lookout was added. Even waste treatment facilities were included.
Hung Shing Yeh Beach offers more than just sand and sea. You can reach Hung Shing Yeh Beach after walking for about 30 minutes from the Yung Shue Wan Ferry Pier.
