“Wisdom”, “Charity”, “Courage”, and “Fulfilment”: these are the pillars of Holy Trinity College. Here before us stands Holy Trinity College a beacon of education in Hong Kong’s Sham Shui Po District. This esteemed Catholic girls’ school has a rich history rooted in the traditions of the Daughters of Jesus, and its story is one of academic excellence.
Holy Trinity College was founded on May 30 1966. It was established by the Daughters of Jesus. Holy Trinity College quickly became known for its commitment to providing quality education. The first supervisor and headmistress was Sr. Rose Mary.
The name “Holy Trinity” refers to the Holy Trinity. It means the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Chinese name “上智” comes from one of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. It signifies the enlightenment of understanding and reason.
Look closely at the school’s emblem. The lily shape symbolizes purity. The triangle represents the Holy Trinity reflecting the school’s English name. The circle signifies eternity. The white dove embodies the Holy Spirit. It represents bestowing wisdom and charity upon the students of Holy Trinity College.
Holy Trinity College celebrated several milestones over the decades. In 1973 a university entrance preparatory course was launched. The school’s alumni association was founded in 1975. A new building was inaugurated in 1976 and later named the Henry Chan Building in 1997. The Students’ Association was established in 1990. The Parent-Teacher Association followed in 1994.
Significant construction took place in 2003. C.C. Lee Hall and the small flower garden were removed. The New Annex and Sr. Rose Mary Memorial Hall were built in their place. The New Annex was opened in 2006.
Holy Trinity College embraces its identity as an English as Medium of Instruction school. The school is committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals.
The four houses at Holy Trinity College are named after former chairpersons of the school’s sponsoring body. They are St. Teresa’s House St. Katherine’s House St. Lucy’s House and St. Clare’s House. Each house fosters a sense of community and healthy competition among the students.
Several notable alumnae have walked the halls of Holy Trinity College. Barrister and entertainer Claudia Yuen. Former news anchor Wincci Wei. Investment director Chan Po Chi and model Ouyang Miaozhi. HotCha member Cheung Man Ka. Musician Lai Ying Tung. Singer Kayee Tam. Dubbing artist Carina Chan and choreographer Cherie Tam also attended Holy Trinity College. These women exemplify the diverse talents nurtured at Holy Trinity College.
