“Looking towards the Albert-Schäffle-Strasse 30” did you know that we are standing before the Hl. Bruder Klaus von der Flüe? It is more than just a church. This is a place where modern architecture meets spiritual tradition.

The Hl. Bruder Klaus von der Flüe was built in 1974. Karl Hans Neumann designed it after winning a competition in 1969. This church stands as a testament to architectural innovation.

Inside the Hl. Bruder Klaus von der Flüe, the liturgical space has been thoughtfully redesigned. The altar is now at the heart of the community. It is surrounded by three U-shaped blocks of seating. The Ambo faces the community. It stands on the remaining step of the former altar area. The priest’s seat is also on this level. The floor’s slope was reduced. Two of the original three steps were removed.

Notice the Kreuzweg by Siegfried Haas. It is a series of stations arranged along the white walls. The twelfth station integrates into a simple cross. This cross symbolizes life. The Marienstatue is placed to be visible upon entering. The statue of Bruder Klaus is on the front concrete wall.

Light fills the space softly through matte windows. Folien create the effect of sandblasted glass. This reduces glare from the Ambo and altar. The exterior view of Otto Herbert Hajek’s relief remains unchanged.

The Hl. Bruder Klaus von der Flüe also features a remarkable organ. Manufacture d’Orgues Muhleisen built it in 1980. The organ has mechanical playing and register actions. It also features 20 registers across two manuals and a pedal. This makes it a versatile instrument. Both the Bruder Klaus community and the Hungarian community use it. They appreciate its high quality.

The Tabernacle is in the former weekday chapel. The chapel’s curve embraces it like a pearl in a shell. This space serves as a room for quiet devotion. The wooden Marienstatue is on loan from St. Elisabeth parish. It stands on stones from the original high altar. Helmut Schober’s “Kraft des Lichts” is behind the statue.

Siegfried Haas created the Kreuzweg in 1978. It winds through the church. Near the altar, the twelfth station becomes a free-standing cross. This cross represents the cross of life. A fifteenth station depicts the Emmaus scene near the baptismal font. Maina Leonhardt created the Pfingstfenster above the font in 1978.

The altar is central to the congregation. The Ambo stands opposite the seating area. The baptismal font is near the Pfingstfenster. The statue of Bruder Klaus stands to the right.

Karl Ulrich Nuss created the triptychon in 1989. It depicts John 12:24 and 32. Hermann and Doris Keller donated it. Maina Leonhardt created the Pfingstfenster.

The Hl. Bruder Klaus von der Flüe celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019. It shares its space with the Hungarian-speaking Szent Gellert community. The church’s unique architecture attracts many visitors. The community actively engages in events. They maintain a kindergarten and community garden.

As you leave the Hl. Bruder Klaus von der Flüe, consider its dual nature. It is a place of worship and architectural significance. It represents a blend of community. It is a forward-thinking design rooted in tradition.
