Heritage Fellowship Church began its journey in Reston in 1978. Back then, it was known as Christian Community Fellowship Church. In 1984, the church affiliated with the United Church of Christ. This lasted until 2005. Since then, it has been simply Heritage Fellowship Church.
Heritage Fellowship Church is a non-denominational Christian church. It operates under the spiritual leadership of Dr. Julian Dangerfield. He is the Senior Pastor. The church hopes to grow in strength and grace. They want to know and celebrate God’s presence. They acknowledge His dominion over all things.
The church extended its physical space with a new sanctuary. The members of Heritage Fellowship Church celebrated the grand opening at 2501 Fox Mill Rd. Special events marked this occasion. There were also special guests present. The celebration included three services. Guest ministers from area churches participated. Acclaimed gospel artists also performed.
Leonard N. Smith of Mt. Zion Baptist Church led a service. It was a service of Thanksgiving and Appreciation. Gospel recording artist Maurette Brown Clark also attended. Tours of the new facility were hosted. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr. from Metropolitan Baptist Church led a Service of Consecration. A light meal followed.
Robert Smith from Beeson School of Divinity led a service of Celebration. This service featured gospel recording artists Kim and Kelly.
